Battles

If a player attacks another player's settlement, a battle will start. The individual units will fight against each other until one side is completely destroyed. This can also cause permanent damage to the settlement (town wall or other buildings). The winner can then either pillage the settlement's resources or conquer them (permanently take them over) using counts.

The levels of a battle are:

  1. Damaging the town wall
  2. Battle of the spies
  3. Normal troops battle
  4. Damaging buildings
  5. Conquests and Pillaging

Damaging the town wall

Before the actual battle commences, the value of the town wall is reduced. To do this, the player needs battering ram units in his attack troop. The level of the town wall is reduced depending on the amount of rams carried.

Battle of the spies

If spies are in the rows of the attacking army, then espionage is calculated normally before the battle starts.

Normal troops battle

The normal units fight against each other. The attack values are compared to the defence values. Once the values are determined, they may also be modified by outside circumstances.

The following modifiers are valid for the attacker:

- Morale: Is a mechanism that is supposed to stop overpowering players from destroying smaller players. The attacking player's total points from all settlements are compared to the defender's total amount of points. If the attacker has more, then the effectiveness of his units is reduced, as the morale is reduced. Morale moves between 100% and 30%.

- Luck: A random factor, that is randomly decided at every battle. This value influences battle strength. Luck varies between -25% and +25%.

The defender can improve the defense values of his units with:

- Wall bonus: This bonus is generated by the town wall and improves all defense values. The wall bonus goes from 100% (Level 0) to 220% (Level 20).

- Night bonus: This is protection that supports attacks between 00:00 and 08:00. During this time, the defender profits from a night bonus, which means: double the defense strength of all units during this time. Outside of this time there is no other defense bonus.

Once the battle values are compared, the losses are determined. The count dies if no more troops have been sent out and a battle has occurred, or when 50% of the attacker's units have died.

Damaging buildings

At the end, the destruction of other buildings is exactly calculated and is dependent on the defender's losses and the attacker's number of trebuchets.

Conquests and Pillaging

Once the battle is over and the attacker has won, the following will happen: The attacker's surviving troops will pillage the resource supply of the settlement and take the goods to their home town. If some of the counts have survived, they will start conquering the settlement and destroying its realm of power.

The realm of power will be recalculated after the conquest attempt. If a building is destroyed by the attack, then it will have an effect on the realm of power.
